My wife and I picked O&B because of its high ratings in TripAdvisor and it turned out to be just as good as the reviews said.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the location (which seems bad when you first arrive) is excellent, the breakfast was superb...and more...

After a night out on the town a good sleep is a must. The O&B Athens Boutique Hotel is stylish and intimate, with none of the knick-knacks that too often plaster Greek hotel interiors. The friendly staff, or even the general manager herself, will happily show you around the up-and-coming neighborhood of lower Psyrri.
The hotel is also close to Gazi, where you are most likely to end your night out in Athens. You'd be hard pressed to find a more relaxed, welcoming and comfortable hotel. Tasty food, free wi-fi, and smart and luxurious bathrooms with Molton Brown products make a stay here an utterly pleasurable experience.
SCANORAMA, Sep 2010
We searched Google for "gay-friendly hotels in Athens, Greece" and were quite pleased with our choice. While the O&B Athens Boutique Hotel is not (to our knowledge) gay-owned or operated, it nonetheless provides outstanding service and accommodations to all guests.
This boutique hotel is small but looks new and exudes an understated style. Although the tiny street on which it is located appears a bit sketchy, you leave all that behind the minute you step in the door. Once inside, you enter a world of cool, quiet serenity operated by a gracious staff with an uncanny knack for appearing at precisely the right moments, but they are otherwise unobtrusive. Everyone smiles and exhibits a genuine interest in making your stay as pleasant as possible, and you get the feeling that no request would ever be too much for them. Personalized service is most certainly their goal, and rarely have we encountered such exemplary performance.(...)
The O&B Athens Boutique Hotel is conveniently located for sightseeing. The front desk provides complimentary area maps and is happy to make recommendations and give directions. We were able to walk to the new Acropolis Museum (a stunning, world-class facility) and the Acropolis itself, and to the National Archeological Museum (a vast exhibition of priceless ancient art).

Whilst O&B may not be in the most salubrious part of town it certainly is in the most colorful area and spitting distance from all key centres. As such, it is very strategically located. O&B hotel staff understands the term “service” and provides it with a cheerful demeanor, they are quick on their feet and verbally responsive with an “of course” which actually translates to “certainly”. The front desk staff is welcoming, engaging, articulate, well informed and prompt. The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean, comfortable and cozy. The bathroom had a monsoon-like shower which provided wonderful respite after a tiring day. Towels were aromatic and snow white. The best feature of the washroom was the excellent soap, shampoo and cream (Prija – a brand we are pining to acquire).
The hotel came with the requisite safety locker within a huge well lit closet. Ah yes, the hotel provides free WiFi with excellent connectivity and a stereo system that allows one to dock an iPod. Of course, the hotel also provides a good selection of classic videos – gratis. Breakfast was personalized – eggs done any which way desired, further supplemented by a variety of delicious home baked pies and tarts, freshly baked breads and freshly squeezed orange juice and fruits. Get this – coffee or tea ordered in room service came with half a dozen freshly baked, thin, crispy, chocolate chip cookies. This brings me to my favorite part of our stay at O&B.
The dinner service provided in our room – Simply OUTSTANDING! It came rolled on a table with a pristine white table cloth and napkins, sparkling flatware, warm china, flowers, candles and finally - The Food. We enjoyed it so much that we made it a point of eating in our room (practically) every night. Okay, so we overdid this part of our stay, only because of the less than memorable experience we had at a posh local restaurant on our first night in Psiri and the very memorable experience we had eating in our room the second night after a long tiring day. Excellent things come in small packages. Rest assured, O&B lives up to its reputation of a four star hotel and far exceeds it on all fronts.

We started off the trip with a two day delay in the states and were forced to cancel two days of our reservation with less than 24 hours notice. The hotel staff was very understanding and provided a refund immediately. Once we arrived in Athens we were met upon check-in with news that our ferry the next day was cancelled due to a strike. The staff immediately got on the phone to help us figure out what we needed to do to rebook our tickets.
In short, the hotel staff made sure we were as comfortable as possible during the entire stay; they helped with restaurant information, they provided maps and directions, and were the most pleasant group of people we came across. The hotel is located about two blocks away from the metro station. It's very convenient. At night, there is plenty of activity in the surrounding streets but not so much to make the rooms noisy.
The rooms are unbelievably clean and modern and incredibly comfortable-great to go back to after hours of sightseeing. The area that this hotel is in is very safe. My husband and I felt very comfortable walking at night. It's also very convenient to the Acropolis and other attractions. The metro is also very close.

The hotel was very good and the room was new and had everything required for a good stay. Great bed, best pillows of all the hotels we stayed at. The service was outstanding, very helpful on what to see in Athens, best ways to travel etc and sent coffee up to the room as a welcome.- no charge.
Breakfeast was very good and morning staff were fantastic.
Overall, an excellent hotel, only exceeded by the service from the staff, across the board, reception, bar and breakfeast. Would not hesitate to stay again but does requires a 10 min walk to major sites, but is 1 min from market so on balance great.

Everything was just fantastic - great staff, great hotel, and the best location! Although the room was quite small, it was well lit, and had a nice view of the neighbourhood. The hotel staff was so friendly, just eager to help and to satisfy us, and really made us feel at home. We stayed there for 5 nights, and enjoyed every minute. It has a nice caffe/bar, where we ate tasteful Greek breakfasts, and where one could have a cup or coffee, even late at night.
And the location? WOW! The hotel is located in the Psyrri quarter, a quite busy and not-so-clean place at daytime (but very much authentic Greek!), but at night it becomes totally different: a center of nightlife, the best restaurants, bars, Greek music clubs and so on.
And also very close to all other Athenian highlights, such as the market, the Agora, Monastiraki area, Plaka, and Keramikos, all within walking distance. It is also very close to the Metro station. And of course - The magnificent Acropolis is well seen from every corner .....
If you are looking for a really authentic Greek experience - that's the place to be!

If one has to recommend a hotel in Athens, O&B would be the one!
There is nothing short of excellent in there, starting from the decor, the location, the impeccable & most helpful & attentive staff, quality furnishings, incredible room service, fantastic food quality from lavish breakfast to delicious room service menu - the hotel truely deserves all the praise in this review.
We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every moment in it - one cannot think of even one single point that could be further improved, this is indeed an incredible boutique hotel with its c.20 rooms and spotless service and staff attention to every one of their visitors. The location is simply fantastic - a walking distance to all major sites but it is also placed in the heart of local day&nightlife.
I cannot but highly recommend this hotel as the #1 in Athens.

What a great hotel. the street outside does look a bit seedy, and you start to wonder if it's the right place, but then you come in and wow - it's immaculate, stylish, the staff are great, and you're only 1 minute from the best bit of Athens where you can walk along all the restaurants towards the acropolis.
The hotel was ultra clean, they replenished the chocolates in our room every time we went out, they gave us stamps for our post cards, the make their own CDs to keep the music interesting, the food was great, free wifi, it was quiet, we had a view, and it was all pretty cheap: this hotel was simply amazing - thanks guys!

If you are going to Athens then you cannot go to a better hotel than the Ochre and Brown. The hotel is immaculately decorated, the rooms have anything you could need and the catering facilities are second to none.
However the real thing that sets this place apart from any other hotel is the staff, I have never experienced such wonderful customer service from every member of staff. Everyone from the first person to welcome us to the last to say good bye treated us like royalty, we were always greeted with a smiling face and everyone was all too happy to help with anything we needed. (…)
I truely cannot say enough good things about this hotel and particularly the staff. Please stay here!!!!!!!!

O&B is a little gem of a hotel. No need to look any further if you are going to Athens. The interior makes you feel at home immediately - modern but with wooden flooring throughout; high-quality lighting, warm and welcoming. It has soul. Opened 4 years ago, it is a very clean, comfortable place with genuinely welcoming and efficient staff.
he position could not be better if you are going - as you presumably are - to experience Athens' rich past (about 10-15 minutes walk from the Acropolis and the New Museum). Everything worth viewing is, in fact, within walking/short distance.
The food at O&B is exceptionally good, freshly made and well presented. (...)
Better, in fact, than many five stars we stayed at over the years. It played a big part in making our long week-end to Athens a truly unforgettable one.

Stellar service, inexpensive, delightful bed & breakfast walking distance from the Acropolis.

Right in the Plaka -- close to everything by foot -- rooms, service and all ammenities were wonderful -- included breakfast not just sticky buns and coffee but rather a full breakfast with juice, eggs, yoghurt coffee etc.
And served on white lines -- delicious -- internet in room is free and fast -- try to stay for a Sunday to visit the flea market in the Monastiraki -- close and a lot of fun -- Don't look any further - this place is marvelous!

Stayed here a few weeks ago and had a fantastic experience.
The location of the hotel is great and the staff are quite possibly the most helpful staff I’ve ever come across, especially the chap who works through the night.
Having stayed at a 5 start resort hotel prior to the O&B, I have to say I preferred the O&B.

The lovely people who work the front desk could not be more knowledgeable or more friendly. These people work very long hours and have every right to be tired or irritable but they alas are not. They care about everything and remember where we ate, and ask about it.
Even the person who was not the one who recommended the restaurant! How did you know we went there??? If you want a boutique hotel at a great price, this is your place.
This hotel would have been $500-700 a night in New York where we live. I think it was the equivalent of $300. US. Really, in Athens this is the place to stay.
comment on tripadvisor.com, Sep 2009
Please do not be put off by the location of this hotel - in a small side street . We arrived early morning after a long flight and not knowing Athens was concerned about the location of the hotel. Although our room was not ready we were given a temporary room to relax. When we emerged refreshed we found that the were in the heart of Athens, walking distance to the main sites and the best areas for spending evenings. The staff were excellent, knowledgable and very friendly - they made our stay. A definate find.
We will definately be back for a longer stay. If you are there for a night go for the deluxe as they come with a view if longer go for the superior although cheaper they are bigger but with no view.

From start to finish, the personal service you get in this tiny, but amazingly well appointed hotel is fantastic.
I have NEVER been to a hotel where I haven't been able to fault the staff, here was the exception. Yes, the rooms are small, and storage a little lacking (you are on holiday and not staying forever), but its location is hard to beat. You are right on top of Plaka, 15 mins to the Acropolis and new museum.
The metro is only a few minutes away too which makes getting to the airport and port very very easy. The only downside, is that it is not a cheap hotel, but you must remember you are in a Capital city and very central - so worth the cost.

When we first arrived we were greeted with very friendly and helpful staff. A map was pulled out and we were shown where all the good spots were for tours, shopping and restaurants. Our room was small but very well designed for its size; it didnt need to be bigger.
All the furnishings were very modern and clean. I could have lived in the shower it was luxurious! When I return to Athens this is the place I will be staying again.

My wife and I absolutely loved this place. The rooms were great and the staff is so friendly. They gave us great advice on where to eat.
The location of the hotel is ideal, the purpose of our trip was to see all the historical sites in Athens and we did this without renting a car, just walking from the hotel.
The "American Breakfast" was out of this world, it should be called the "Better than American Breakfast". This hotel was great I highly recommend it!!

We decided to stay at this Hotel because of the positive reviews we read. It was even better then expected. The correspondence before even arriving to Athens was helpful, and once there the service we received was impeccable. It started when to cab didn't speak good english.
We called the hotel and they made sure we got there. At check in we met to front desk person who made sure to give me any information I needed to make sure we have the perfect trip. She took the time to explain the map, where to go what to do, When.. Everything.
The Rooms were amazing, Clean, stylish and the view from our balcony was pretty nice. Breakfast and room service were wonderful as well.
I cannot say anything bad about this hotel! And you should all stay there.

Tucked away on a side street in Athens, but near to the main sights and lively bars/restaurants, this boutique hotel is simply outstanding. Be prepared for a small but well equipped room. The bar and restaurant in the hotel were quiet when we were there, but provided a great place to start the evening.
The food was very good, decor is modern and well done. The main thing that struck us was the excellent service. From the moment we walked in nothing was too much trouble - really exceptional. We would not hesitate to go back.

Arriving in a taxi at the O&B was interesting...very different neighborhood. Fascinating - and this comes from a very snobby European traveler!
Loved the little warren of streets, the mix of old-fashioned shops with new and beautiful stores, the Sunday flea market, the varied restaurants all in a row and the proximity of the subway. Hotel staff is the best ever and every food item was delicious.
Welcomes are comforting and generous. Glorious bathroom.

The hotel I stayed in, Ochre & Brown, a lovely 11-room boutique hotel, was perfectly located about a 10-minute walk from the Acropolis, on the edge of Psiri and close to Plaka. The service here was almost too good, if there is such a thing, with desk clerks constantly asking me if there was anything I needed.
Not only do the rooms boast parquet floors, flat-screen TVs and Internet access, but the hotel also has a stylish restaurant and lounge.

We were delighted with our stay at this hotel. We stayed on the front end of our trip to the islands and eagerly looked forward to our return at the end. The rooms, restaurant, bar, food and location are perfect, but it is the staff that is exceptional.
My husb. was ill for a day or so and they could not do enough to help out. Don't pass on staying at this boutique, quiet, 11 room hotel that surpasses any of the upper end hotels.
comment on travel.yahoo.com, Sep 2008
Hats off to this charming 11 room hotel nestling in the heart of Psirri. Designer Aria Korizi did her very best to give a good name to the “boutique hotel” label, by skillfully taking advantage of its small spaces.
Following her intervention, this minuscule establishment looks big enough to host an elegant bar-restaurant, which offers an interesting vegetarian, continental or even American breakfast for anyone passing by.
Also on offer are ‘Molton Brown’ amenities in the chic bedrooms, free-of-charge Internet and personalised services for anyone looking to treat oneself to a pleasant city-break weekend.

Very close to subway, shopping, restaurants and Acropolis. Very accommodating staff; they helped with transportation, getting tickets to Greek basketball finals, even packed us a breakfast for our very early (4 am) departure.
Rooms are beautifully decorated and well-appointed. Even though our room faced the small street that the hotel was on, it was relatively quiet.

We loved the food and service in the restaurant--especially the freshly squeezed orange juice and lattes in the morning.
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet little oasis in the midst of city chaos. It is located very near Pedestrian Way, with all its little cafes and shops.

National Geographic Traveler:
With only 11 rooms and 20 staff, you get superb service and a buzzy bar-restaurant. Small bedrooms have glass wet-rooms, flat-screens, parquet floors, high-thread-count bed linen. Junior suite has obligatory Acropolis views.
The New York Times:
Though in the heart of the unlovely Psyrri district, Ochre & Brown has elegant, minimalist rooms and is close to the central Athens sights.
The Daily Telegraph:
The place to be for the urban buzz of Psirri (the Soho of Athens), Ochre and Brown has its own glam lounge and 11 rooms, suites, a penthouse and a stylish bar-restaurant. Rooms are very Elle Deco, with wet-room bathrooms and internet access. Athens's hottest new bars and restaurants are on the doorstep, the Plaka and the Acropolis are 10 minutes' walk away.
The Independent:
If boutique is more your style, book into Ochre & Brown – or O&B as it has become known (...). It opened two years ago, and is handily placed for the metro and the main sights.

Day by day we discovered that the hotel is in an ideal location: near Gazi, Psiri and Monastiraki, close to Thisio metro station and to a secondary entrance to Acropolis, and within walking distance to Syntagma Square and Kolonaki.
We ate in the hotel more than once, usually toast and omelettes with room service (wonderful toasts with delicious roasted potatoes!), dinner for NYE (very intimate, candle lights and good music, good food), and breakfast included in our room rate. Breakfast was incredible: you could choose three menus (vegetarian, continental and American), and there was plenty of choice, from classic milk, pastries, croissant and jam, to eggs, cheese and ham, and the thing I adored: greek yogurt with honey and hazelnuts….wow!

It pays to stay somewhere comfortable in winter. A new breed of Athenian hotel has arrived: smart, design-led, north European in style but thoroughly Greek in atmosphere - and price. The Ochre and Brown is one of the best: 11 sleek but cosy rooms looking out towards the Acropolis and back across the busy streets of Psiri…
The O&B Athens Boutique Hotel is probably the best small hotel in the city, with plush, well-equipped rooms with a designer feel, friendly staff and a great location on the edge of Psiri and close to Plaka.
by Paul Mansfield, The Daily Telegraph Dec 2007
A perfect boutique hotel. We stayed there twice on our honeymoon. The second time at our request on our return from Santorini then home.
The staff was the most accommodating, friendly, and helpful one that we encountered in our 3 weeks in Italy and Greece.
The staff is like a family, and made us feel very welcome. I would highly recommend staying at the Ocre and Brown when in Athens.

The great position right in the heart of old town, also close to one of the most famous places, Acropolis, will be the perfect choice for the ones that love to walk in the narrow streets where you can find plenty shops full of Greek souvenirs…
You have all the staff ready to accomplish all your wishes and needs…
Great cappuccino in the morning…tasty food at breakfast. Enjoy a moment of relaxation in the shower… Excellent choice…

True to the hotel's name, the 11 modern rooms at the new O&B Athens Boutique Hotel are swathed in earthy colors and brightened with accents of bright red, orange, and pink. The hotel's best asset: a prime location in the up-and-coming Psyrri district, bridging old and new Athens.
Stroll the nearby pedestrian walkway that encircles the Acropolis, or spend time in the modern art galleries and hub of Athens's thriving nightlife.

I wish to extend our utmost appreciation for the courtesy, kindness, helpfulness and warmth of each and every staff member we dealt with. I cannot begin to convey with words how impressed we were with the operation of the hotel.

We are a couple who stayed two days in Athens before heading to the Islands and felt we picked the perfect hotel. It is located walking distance from all you need to see in Athens if you are there for 2 days. It is a really cute boutique hotel.
The room is small but very new, clean and with a really cute decor. The bed was totally comfortable and the breakfast was really nice. The hotel staff was amazing, getting taxis for us, explaining the maps and getting towels when we needed them.
The area of Psiri where the hotel is located is also really fun especially for a young couple. It is a very cool, hip young area that has great bars and great atmosphere to grab a drink at night. We highy recommend this hotel especially if you have a short time in Athens!

The hotel is a gem in the middle of a big city. The front desk people were wonderful in helping locate lost luggage and get us off to our Crystal Greeek island cruise. The breakfast is wonderful and the orange juice is really fresh squeezed.

We only stayed here for one night at the beginning of our holiday, and for our final night after returning from the islands. Whilst we had a good time in Santorini and Mykonos, we were really looking forward to returning to the Ochre and Brown hotel.
The location is excellent, especially good for access to the Metro line which goes direct to Piraeus, but also for the funky Psyrri/Thissiou area, which reminded me of Hoxton/Shoreditch in London or Soho/Lower East Side in New York, with great local boutiques, bars, restaurants.
The room wasn't very large, but it was perfectly designed both aesthetically and with respect to storage and amenities (especially the bathroom), and we loved it.
Best of all were the staff. Everyone we met was cheerful, helpful, and efficient. We'd definitely stay here again on a future trip to Athens.
