Benaki Museum presents at its Keramikos Complex (just one minute walking from the O&B Athens Boutique Hotel) an exhibition with photographs of the archaeologists Alexandros Tsakos and Henriette Hafsaas-Tsakos from various periods during which they lived and worked in northern Sudan.
The exhibition highlights the history of Sudan, its people and their religions, from the ancient and medieval civilizations of Nubia to the modern Islamic Sudan. The photos describe religious beliefs and practices of modern Islam, stressing the primordial importance of water and the river Nile in the culture and religion of the region.
The exhibition is been completed with Sudanese portraits and images of Sudan’s everyday life.
